The BFA with a Concentration in Directing is an intensive, professional degree that prepares students to enter graduate film programs or pursue professional careers in film and media directing.  It focuses on both narrative and dramatic directing. Studies will culminate in the direction of an advanced creative production in a final project.

Students may specialize in narrative or documentary directing. All students will take the same curriculum except as follows. Narrative students will choose two from a list of three courses:  Screen Directing, Screen Performance, or Scene Analysis.  Documentary students will choose two from a list of four courses: Making Documentaries, Experimental Media Workshop, Anthropological Film/Media or Researching and Developing Documentaries.

Course of Study

The BFA with a Concentration in Directing includes courses in screen directing, scene analysis, making documentaries, screen performance, filmmaking, videography, editing, and producing, and culminates with a two semester, BFA Directing Projects course.
