Collaboration between Philadelphia Young Playwrights and Temple Theaters benefits all

Beginning on Thursday, October 6, Temple University in collaboration with Philadelphia Young Playwrights will celebrate its 27th year of the New Voices Workshop, with the performances of new plays written by students from local elementary, middle and high schools.
Hearts and Minds: The Interrogations Project, a immersive virtual reality project by Professor Roderick Coover, with Arthur Nishimoto, Daria Tsoupikova and Scott Rettberg, is winner of the 2016 Electronic Literature Organization Award for Best Work of Electronic Literature. This is the top prize for a creative work in the field of electronic literary arts.
Professor Elisabeth Subrin's Course Encourages Women in Film

Associate Professor Elisabeth Subrin proposed a new idea for an elective course shortly after she first arrived at Temple, remarking how marginalized women’s film remained in the film industry, as well as in academia.
With support of Temple’s Department of Film and Media Arts, the Women Film/Video Artists course was born, and is now a permanent part of the curriculum.

Though she has a very decorated theater career, Katherine Nigh did not always want to be involved with theater directly. “I've wanted to be a pilot, a florist, a politician, a ballet dancer,” Nigh said. “After receiving my MA, I still considered going to law school. Sometimes I still want to be all of those things.”
