Temple Theaters kicked off the new 2018- 2019 season with The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek by Naomi Wallace and the performance could not have been more timely. The play explores Dalton Chance’s teenage life as he finds himself entranced by the fearless and fascinating Pace Creegan. The performance is childlike and nostalgic but has a twist that will leave the audience a little shaken up. Amy Shoshana Blumberg (MFA ‘19) says the wicked twist of the play is a crucial clue into considering the social and political climate we face today.
Alumnus reflects on career and education before appearance in Chicago

Former faculty member David A. Hale, a professor at Temple university for over thirty years passed away on February 13, 2018. David Hale began his career as the director of theater for the new Tomlinson Theater in the 1960s and became chair of the Department of Theater in 1975. Over the course of his long career at Temple, Hale was also head of the graduate design program and the undergraduate program.
Senior to star as peacemaker Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet

Julia Hopkins will play the role of Benvolio, which is usually played by a male, in this semester’s production of Romeo and Juliet; she was casted in part due due to her advance stage combat skills. The senior theater major began practicing martial arts in high school with Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. She is now a certified actor combatant and the best stage fighter at Temple.
On Saturday, September 22, the School of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts will offer additional accessibility accomodations for THE TRESTLE AT POPE LICK CREEK. ASL interpretation, audio description, sensory friendly seating, and wheelchair accessibility will be available for patrons.
