On Friday, August 28, Tomlinson Theater quickly filled to the brim with theater majors, performers, and fans to hear from Broadway star and Lancaster native Jonathan Groff.

Groff took a train early Friday morning to Philadelphia to conduct a casual Q&A session with Temple students, as well as conduct a masterclass before returning to New York City to perform in the new hit Broadway musical Hamilton.

Incoming FMA Student Named Semi-Finalist in Presidential Scholars Program

Lucas Wozniak, an entering student in the Department of Film and Media Arts, has been named one of 565 semifinalists, and one of only seventeen in Pennsylvania, in the 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from more than 4,300 candidates on the basis of superior achievements, leadership qualities, personal character, and involvement in community and school activities.

On Wednesday, February 4, junior Samantha Dugan recorded her very busy day for this new feature. In addition to being a dedicated student and employee of the Temple Theaters Box Office, Sam is also the stage manager of Temple Theater’s next production Arcadia, which began tech last Wednesday.  

7:45am. I have to resist the urge to let one single tear slide down my cheek, when my alarm goes off. But it’s Wednesday, which means class today.

New FMA Curriculum Now Offers BFA Degrees

The Department of Film and Media Arts (FMA) is expanding its undergraduate program to offer a new bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degrees in addition to a more focused bachelor of arts (BA) degrees. The new BFA will offer Concentrations in Directing, Media Arts and Screenwriting for intensive arts education. The new more focused BA will offer concentrations in Cinematography, Post-Production, Producing and Screen Studies, allowing for specialized study within a liberal arts context.
