Class Warfare (The Stress of Her Regard), a music video directed by alumnus Ilya Simakov (MFA '12), has been accepted to the 55th Ann Arbor Film Festival.
Described as an abstract meditation on dread and disempowerment, the festival's screening will take place on Saturday, March 25 at 7:00 PM in University of Michigan's Lorch Hall.
The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest avant-garde and experimantal film festival in North America and is internationally recognized as a premiere forum for independent filmmakers and artists. The festival presents 40 programs with more than 180 films of all lengths and genres from over 20 countries.
Prior to Ann Arbor Film Festival, Class Warfare (The Stress of Her Regard) screened at Indie Memphis and Cucalorus Film Festival.
Simakov has worked professionally as a director's assistant in the Russian film industry and in theater. He has also served as a cinematographer on documentary features and several award-wining short films, including an Academy Awards regional finalist. Simakov's directing work has screened at international film festivals, including Starz Denver, HollyShorts and MUVI in Montreal.
