Interview with Maori Homes

This interview with BlackStar Film Festival founder and Temple Alum Maori Karmael Holmes (MFA '05) was recorded in November 2018, when Maori was to be celebrated as part of Temple’s Gallery of Success. We were so excited to sit down and talk about her journey as well as receive some advice to new student filmmakers.

Along with her work for the BlackStar Festival which has become a premiere platform to independent filmmakers of color, Maori has worked as a producer, curator at Philadelphia ICA, Icebox, The Underground Museum, and with lauded director Ava DuVernay.

The BlackStar Film Festival has just opened its 2019 submissions to all eligible filmmakers of color.
