LA Study Away Application Form

Requirements for All Students:
 
  • Junior or senior status
    (minimum of 63 credits) by the end of the previous semester 
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is highly preferred. 
    Non-Temple students must submit an official transcript to FMA Study Away
  • Two recommendations from professors or TAs
    Students must inform instructors of the application deadline, indicate the
    semester they anticipate attending, and forward the online reference form
    found here.
  • A current résumé 
    BEFORE completing this application, please download and use the following template for your resume. The .pdf document can be edited directly, or saved first as a .doc file.
  • A 1 - 2 page essay:
    How will this program contribute to your personal and academic development?
    Why are you a good candidate for this program?
    What motivates you, what are your industry goals, and how will you use this opportunity to represent Temple University?

 

Should you be accepted to the program, a $750 non-refundable deposit will be due within two weeks of your notification in order to hold your place. 

Checks or money orders should be made out to “Temple University” with your TUid and name on it, and should be delivered to the LA Study Away office in room 14F of Annenberg Hall.

Merit Scholarship stipends are awarded on admittance to Temple University and are not determined by the department of Film and Media Arts. The application to apply any funds you may have been awarded to LA Study Away is separate from this application. Students are responsible for visiting the Merit Scholarship page, completing the application by the stipend deadline, and notifying FMA Away when they have done so. Photographs or moving images of FMA students or students attending FMA classes and/or programs may be taken during classes, production shoots, in labs and under other department, division or university-related circumstances. These photographs and likenesses may be used by the FMA Department, The Center for the Arts , and /or Temple University as a whole for promotional purposes. By participating in an FMA program you agree that your photograph or likeness may be used for promotional purposes via video, print, or web, without compensation to you. Any student may opt out of this agreement, but they must notify in writing the department chair or program director of their request to opt out. I am a legally competent adult and have the right to contract in my own name. I release Temple University and its departments and employees from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I may have in connection with this use of photographs and likenesses obtained under this consent. I understand that all such photographs and likenesses, in whatever medium, shall remain the property of the university. I have read this consent and release and fully understand its contents. This release shall be binding upon me and my heirs, legal representatives, and assigns.
