Temple Theaters is thrilled to announce our 53rd Season for the 2020-2021 Academic Year! The season opens with Anton Chekhov’s classic, “Ivanov”, followed by “New Voices 2020” in continued collaboration with Philadelphia Young Playwrights. Our fall musical will be the smash-hit, “Urinetown” with Music by Mark Hollmann, Lyrics by Greg Kotis and Hollmann, and Book by Kotis. We will then present William Shakespeare’s comedy, “As You Like It”, and finish the fall semester with “The Laramie Project” by Moisés Kaufman.
The spring semester kicks off with one of The New York Times’ Best Plays of 2016, “The Wolves” by Sarah DeLappe. The spring continues with Euripides’ ancient Greek tragedy, “The Bacchae”. To close out the season, we will present two world premiere musicals written by students in our brand new George Abbott MFA in Musical Theater Collaboration: “Chance the Snapper”, Music & Lyrics by Spicer W. Carr, Book by Rose Freeman and Spicer W. Carr, and “Branded”, Music & Lyrics by Adam J. Rineer, Book by Rachel Graf Evans, Directed, Choreographed & Based on an Original Concept by Jason Aguirre. This thrilling season with beloved classics, exciting contemporary pieces, and new works, will certainly be one not to miss!
