Recently, marketing assistant, Alyssa Threadgill had an in-depth conversation with TFMA alumni, Angel Sigala, who on March 24, 2023, made his Broadway debut as Mateo Diaz in New York, New York!

On Instagram, Sigala shared a heartwarming video of himself telling his loved ones about securing his first Broadway role. It was beyond inspiring to see Angel achieve his dreams and reach a goal so many of us hope to achieve.

Angel was born in Mexico but considers Philadelphia his home. He graduated from Temple University in 2018 after studying musical theater and acting. Since that time, he has been an active participant in local theater productions at the InterAct Theatre Company, People’s Light, the Arden Theatre, Theatre Exile, and many more as both an actor and choreographer.

This talented actor passionately shared bits of his career journey with Temple Theaters and spoke candidly about his experience leading up to landing a role in New York, New York,

In particular, Sigala discussed his experiences within Temple Theaters including being a part of Amina Robinson’s first production at Temple. He also walks through the Broadway audition process and even shared his experience working with Lin Manuel-Miranda!

Angel wanted everyone to know how studying at Temple and participating in productions greatly prepared him for his professional career as an actor.

“Temple really prepares you for the professional process because it is very similar…It’s really about building a community and it’s kinda crazy how that happens, people kind of connect you to the next thing and people are always creating.”

We are incredibly proud of Angel Sigala and are excited to support his first Broadway show. We have no doubt that he will continue to be a successful performer and lead a wonderful and prosperous career. Congratulations, Angel!
