While we are run out of the Film and Media Arts department, we encourage and welcome students from any university, school, and major. Requirements for all students are as follows:
Junior or senior status (minimum of 63 credits) by the end of the previous semester
A current résumé
A 1-2 page essay describing how this program would contribute to your personal and academic development
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is highly preferred.
Non-Temple students must submit an official transcript to FMA Study Away
Two recommendation letters from college instructors (online)
Once you complete your application, including the names and e-mails of your references, our system will automatically notify them of your request via e-mail.
Should you be accepted to the program, a $750 non-refundable deposit will be due within two weeks of your notification in order to hold your place. Checks or money orders should be made out to “Temple University” with your TUid and name on it, and should be delivered to the LA Study Away office in room 14F of Annenberg Hall.

Multiple LA Study Away Scholarships ranging from $250-$1,500 are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students based on demonstrated academic merit and financial need. Priority is given to students who are not eligible for the Lew Klein or the CLA Internship Award. **Deadline: Last day of program application period each semester.
Support a student with your reference:
Students must have two references to support their application. At lease one of these must be provided by a professor who can speak to their academic work. Faculty are automatically notified of the request when a student submits their application, but as we accept students on a rolling admission basis, we encourage prompt submission recommendations.

Consider a full-time job in LA assisting the Faculty Director:
Every semester we hire 1-2 full-time assistants based on program enrollment. These are 40hr/week positions are key to our operations and may not be combined with any other prospects. Assistants must have a car to run errands and to be available in emergency situations. (The car may be your own or rented). Housing in a studio apartment is provided.
