FIVE Owls on Broadway!

FIVE Owls on Broadway!

January 10, 2020

There's nothing terribly shocking about seeing our Temple Alums grace the Broadway stage. Over the years we've had a great number of Temple alums hit Broadway with enormous success.

Actors like Sean Thompson ('09) who was in the Broadway production of SUNSET BOULEVARD or Da'Vine Joy Randolph ('10) who recently starred in Netflix's DOLOMITE IS MY NAME with Eddie Murphy, but before then was on Broadway as Oda Mae Brown in the original production of GHOST.

But in January of 2019 we noticed a trend and just wanted to highlight the fact that we have (at least) five alums currently starring in Broadway productions!

Austin Durant ('06)
Austin is currently playing the substantial role of Harold Zidler in MOULIN ROUGE on Broadway.  He was previously seen on Broadway in  YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. He's also worked extensively including in NYC at The Public Theater in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, as well as at Lincoln Center Theater in MACBETH and WAR HORSE.

Kevin Del Aguila (MFA '94)
Currently starring on Broadway in FROZEN, Kevin is an acclaimed actor, working often with Director Alex Timbers in shows like BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, ROCKY, LOVES LABOUR'S LOST, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER along with many many other pieces.  As a writer he is known for his work on the Emmy Award winning "PEG + CAT", as well as stage adaptations of the DreamWorks film MADAGASCAR and Nickelodeon's STORYTIME LIVE, both of which toured nationally and played engagements at Radio City Music Hall.

Jordan Dobson ('18)
In his Broadway Debut -- Jordan is currently playing Tony in WEST SIDE STORY! He was recently seen in THE COLOR PURPLE at Theatre Horizon. He graduated less than 2 years ago and we are so excited for him!

Bryan Terrell Clark ('03)
Bryan is currently performing as George Washington in HAMILTON on Broadway. He also was in MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL on Broadway, originating the role of Marvin Gaye. Bryan also can be seen in Ava DuVerrnays highly acclaimed “When They See Us” and “Queen Sugar” -- This year, he will be featured in “Cherish the Day” on OWN.
Darryl Gene Daughtry, Jr ('15)
Currently on Broadway in THE INHERITANCE, Daryll is a M.F.A. graduate of the Juilliard Drama Program's group 48. Darryl (or DJ) and was recently seen onstage in The Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park in CORIOLANUS.

We are so thrilled to see so many Owls on Broadway at one time! If you're in NYC, go support these Temple Alums (if you can get a ticket!).
