Temple Taking Over Broadway

Temple Taking Over Broadway

Once again, we see Owls dotting the great Broadway stages in style! This Spring, we heard about six (!!) Temple Alums treading the boards at theaters on the famed NYC thoroughfare and we are so proud of each of them and honored to call them our alumni! (and there are probably more that we don't know about!)

It's no suprise to have Temple alums star on Broadway (check out this article from 2020 - Five Owls on Broadway) But we love to feature them when the come in bunches like this!

Jordan Dobson, TFM ‘18, is currently set to star as Prince Sebastian in Bad Cinderella at the Imperial Theater in New York, NY. Dobson is no stranger to the Broadway stage, recently appearing in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, Hadestown (as Orpheus), and West Side Story (u/s Tony).

Paige Smallwood, TFM ‘17, is joining Jordan Dobson in Bad Cinderella as a member of the ensemble, as well as the understudy for Cinderella. In this production, Smallwood will be making her Broadway debut, though she has appeared in numerous high-level professional productions. Smallwood’s credits include Eponine in the traveling national tour of Les Miserables and in the Angelica Company’s tour of Hamilton first as a principle standby for all three Schuyler Sisters and then as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds

Angel Sigala, TFM ‘18, will be playing the featured role of Mateo Diaz In Kander and Ebb’s NEW YORK, NEW YORK. Sigala will be making his Broadway debut when the show starts previews on March 24, 2023. He has performed in several regional theaters throughout the Philadelphia area, including InterAct Theatre Company, Arden Theatre Company, People’s Light Theatre Company, and Theatre Exile. Check out the images of him on Instagram with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has written new songs for the musical.

Ashley D. Kelley, TFM ‘10, has had an amazing career in TV and on stage – she is currently featured in the Broadway production of Shucked. Her previous credits include Luke Cage, Home Team, and the Netflix hit Insatiable.

James Ijames, TFM ‘06, will be making his Broadway debut as his Pulitzer Prize Award-winning play of FAT HAM comes to the American Airlines Theater on 42nd st. Ijames has too many awards to count right now including an Obie, the Terrance McNally New Play Award for WHITE, the 2015 Kesselring Honorable Mention Prize winner for ....Miz Martha, a 2017 recipient of the Whiting Award, a 2019 Kesselring Prize for Kill Move Paradise, a 2020 and 2022 Steinberg Prize and (of course) the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Drama.

Kevin Del Aguila (MFA '94) is a Broadway regular, currently starring as Osgood in SOME LIKE IT HOT. Previously he was featured on Broadway in FROZEN and has many other credits as an acclaimed actor, working often with Director Alex Timbers in shows like BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, ROCKY, LOVES LABOUR'S LOST, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER along with many many other pieces.  As a writer he is known for his musical of the smash hit kids book DOG MAN which is running off-Broadway now! He's also worked on the Emmy Award winning "PEG + CAT", as well as stage adaptations of the DreamWorks film MADAGASCAR and Nickelodeon's STORYTIME LIVE, both of which toured nationally and played engagements at Radio City Music Hall.

So many kudos to these incredible Temple Alumni artists! Get your tickets right away and support your fellow Owls at great theaters on Broadway!
