Zachary Tyler Vickers has been an independent artist and storyteller for more than two decades. His "DIY," process-focused animation practice explores and reimagines historical techniques with an emphasis on materiality and the artist’s presence. His work has been screened internationally and has won awards, such as a Gold Remi at WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and "Best Animation" at the Trenton Film Festival, among others.
He is also the author of the short story collection Congratulations on Your Martyrdom! His fiction has been optioned for film, won numerous awards, like the Kurt Vonnegut Prize, and appeared in many prominent journals. His screenwriting won Grand Prize at the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival, and has garnered recognition from many distinguished festivals.
He holds two MFAs: one from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and another from Temple University's Film and Media Arts program. He is Temple's Assistant Professor of Animation and Director of the Animation Concentration.
