Instructor Reference Form
 

The TFMA Los Angeles Study Away Program is an academic semester with a professional development emphasis, during which students take a full-time courseload of 12 or more credits in the Fall or Spring semesters, and 7 or more credits in the Summer. This includes an internship in the entertainment industry. 

The LA Study Away Program is a demanding experience that requires the resilience and time management skills expected of their fields. Additionally, because students interface with companies and working professionals in the entertainment industry, acting as representatives of Temple University, the Program expects a high standard of professional behavior from participants.

• Academic Record
  • GPA of 3.0 or above or contact Program Director
  • Favorable instructor references. You will need to forward this recommendation form. 
• Demonstrated Ability to Apply and Compete for Internships
  • Prior experience (media-related work, non-media-related jobs, other internships, or volunteer work)
  • Clear articulation of applicant's career goals, interests, and passions
• Professional Presentation
  • Demonstrated writing abilities and communication skills
  • Acceptable professional demeanor and self-presentation in all communication with LA Study Away faculty and staff

Application Process

• Required Application Uploads
  • 1-page résumé formatted formatted per LA Study Away guidelines, or comparable format that includes all required information 
  • 1-page professional development statement detailing the following:
    (Your materials should be error and typo-free and written with correct grammar and punctuation.)
    • Your interests, goals and expectations for the program
    • Why do you want to do the program and what do you hope to learn?
    • How will this experience promote your professional development?
• Instructor References
  • Email the link to the Instructor Reference form to 2 professors ASAP
  • Tell them the semester to which you are applying
• Complete the Online Application Form
  • The form does not save so be sure that your documents are ready before you begin

Once your application is complete, including both references, it will take approximately 2 weeks to be reviewed.
