Biography

Neal Dhand is a writer, director, producer, and professor from Philadelphia. He make films that fall between genre and arthouse.

Neal’s film DARK MY LIGHT, a revisionist sci-fi drama and thriller for the modern age, premiered at Fantaspoa in April 2024 and is being distributed by Ethos Releasing. He is currently finishing a new film, GENOA. Shot in the city of the same name, the film is a surrealist take on fatherhood, political anxieties, and ghosts

Neal’s screenplays have placed in competitions including the Nicholl Fellowship, Slamdance, American Zoetrope, and Austin, and he has had projects at the Torino Film Lab "Next" Section and in many genre labs, including NAFF at BiFan, and Blood Window.

Neal has taught screenwriting, directing, producing, and film analysis at universities in Pennsylvania, New York, and the Czech Republic. He is a co-founder of Wandering Cinema (www.wanderingcinema.com), and a mentor at the m2 Film Lab in Istanbul, Turkey.

He received his BA from the University of Chicago, and his MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
