Accessibility

We ask that you contact the box office (theater@temple.edu) if you or your guest with special needs is attending a performance in the Tomlinson Theater. Our accessibility form is also available to alert theater staff of any requests you might have.

Mobility

The Randall Theater is directly accessible via our accessible Annenberg entrance (facing 13th Street), and has two restrooms that are wheelchair accessible. Seating for patrons with wheelchairs or other mobility aids are in the first row of seats in the theater.

The Tomlinson Theater has several steps leading up to the main lobby, and restrooms are down a flight of stairs. Patrons in wheelchairs or with other mobility aids who do not feel comfortable using those stairs will be taken through the theater to our accessible bathrooms by an usher. Seating for patrons with wheelchairs or other mobility aids are in a specific section towards the front of the stage. The accessibility entrance to this theater is not the same as the main entrance, please fill out our accessibility form and a front of house staff member will reach out about our accessible entrances and your specific needs.

WatchWord Caption Glasses

We’re thrilled to say that Temple Theaters will be the first university theater department in the world to use WatchWord Live Caption Glasses, a wearable closed captioning experience that uses a synchronized transcript of the play's dialogue. The glasses are programmed to listen to the show as it is performed and display captions in real-time, directly in the wearer's eyes, while still being able to see the action onstage.

Developed by Built For Good/UK, the partnership was facilitated by the Institute on Disabilities at Temple, which also contributed four sets of Epson smart glasses to Temple Theaters. These will provide “always on” line-of-sight captioning for audience members who are Deaf or hard of hearing, making it possible for them to access Temple’s live performances at any time, and from any seat in the house.

Interested in reserving a pair of WatchWord glasses for one of our Temple Theaters or Temple Opera productions? Fill out our Accessibility Request Form and we'll have a pair waiting for you at the theater.

Please contact us at  or 215-204-1122 with questions or comments concerning the accessibility of our productions.
