It was Hollywood’s biggest night, and a huge night for Temple! The 96th Annual Academy Awards were Sunday, and we had so many reasons to tune in: alums Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Colman Domingo were nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Lead Actor.
Oscar nominations are out, and Temple University is represented twice over!
The Temple Theater department is honored to announce that we are this year’s recipients of the University Resident Theater Association (URTA)’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training – Acting. This award was announced alongside the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training – Design and Technology, which went to the University of Texas at El Paso.
Last month, Temple alum Sabriaya Shipley (BA ‘19) became the Executive Director of Theatre Philadelphia. Founded in 2012, Theatre Philadelphia leads efforts that expand and engage audiences through the theatrical arts in Philadelphia. They helm the annual Philly Theatre Week, as well as the nationally recognized Barrymore Awards for theatrical excellence in regional theater.
Last Friday, the nominees for this year's Barrymore Awards were announced by Theatre Philadelphia. The Barrymore Awards are a nationally recognized honor that has been given out yearly since 1994, and are considered the Tony Awards of Philadelphia. Owls were all over this year’s nominee announcement; check out the full list below, and a hearty congratulations to everyone nominated!
