The Temple Theater department is honored to announce that we are this year’s recipients of the University Resident Theater Association (URTA)’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training – Acting. This award was announced alongside the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Training – Design and Technology, which went to the University of Texas at El Paso.
Since 2020, the Alumni Association of Temple University's School of Theater, Film, and Media Arts has been awarding grants to help fund alumni projects with the understanding that the body of work coming out of TFMA is made more vibrant by diverse voices.
In support of a more honest, equitable, and inclusive storytelling landscape, the 2023 TFMA Alumni Project Grant is going toward projects that amplify the voices and stories of artists of color and artists in the LGBTQ+ community.
In perhaps a precient artistic endeavour, Temple University faculty Roderick Coover (TFMA) and Adam Vidiksis (Boyer) have collaborated to create two large-scale public artworks that confront the effects of climate change on the local waterways, and will be a part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival this September 8–23, 2021.
Temple FMA Adjuct Film Professor Wendi Grantham has an incredible background, including a life on stage, on screen (perhaps most notably in HBO's THE WIRE), as a singer, and screenwriter and so much more. We were honored to interview her and find out more about her life, her ideas on teaching, and why she loves to post baby animals on her social media.
